Mix Up Your Workout Routine to Maximize Benefits

To get the best results from your workout regiment, individuals should work with a personal trainer to mix up their exercise routines to make the exercises more unique and beneficial. When people do the same exercises over and over again, they will at some point reach a results’ plateau and they will not meet their desired goals.

In order to understand why routine exercises lose their benefits over time, it is important to understand what happens to the body after exercise. When you exercise the muscle proteins break down. As a result of the breaking down of the muscle proteins, inflammation occurs. The inflammation repairs the muscle making it bigger and stronger. Repair of damaged muscle proteins begins immediately after exercise.

Your body contains a personal recorder that records into the body’s memory how your body reacted to a particular exercise routine. When we undergo the stress of physical exercise, our body adapts and becomes more efficient. It’s just like learning any new skill; at first it’s difficult, but over time it becomes second-nature. This is when the exercises lose some of its benefits and the individual reaches the plateau of the exercise results.

It is important to note that once you adapt to a given stress, you require additional stress to continue to make progress. There are limits to how much stress the body can tolerate before it breaks down and risks injury. Doing too much work too quickly will result in injury or muscle damage, but doing too little, too slowly will not result in any improvement. That is why personal trainers need to set up specific training programs that will not only increase time and intensity at a planned rate, but also create workout regiments that will utilize a variety of workout routines.
