Staying active can be a frustrating struggle. Sometimes you want to; sometimes you don’t. When you’re at the mercy of your emotions, consistency is pretty much impossible. That is why it’s so important to create a system that makes you want to work out. Everyone is different, so your motivational system will look nothing like someone else’s. Don’t worry if someone else’s system hasn’t worked for you; you need to find the system that works for you!

In today’s blog, we are going to share two proven ways to motivate yourself. Feel free to try them, change them, and use them in any combination!

Sign a Contract

  • Fitness is a process that takes a while to show results. You have to get past that initial discomfort in order to discover just how great working out can be. Signing a contract to work out in the presence of friends can be very powerful for some people. You can also take it up a notch by promising to pay your friend $20 whenever you miss a workout or a class.

Use Realistic Positive Thinking

  • Simply thinking about how great being fit will be isn’t enough for most people. You also have to direct some energy toward beating the obstacles in your path. Take the time to identify what is holding you back, whether it is time, cravings, or scheduling, and problem-solve.
